A couple of other thoughts.

If you want to minimise cost then nip into your local bike shop and see if they have a used wheel, maybe one that has a dinge on the rim, which would not be useable on a road going bike but would be quite OK on a trainer where braking performance is not important.. As cotterpin suggests you might get a way with a screw on wheel with a single speed or multi speed block.

The only other comment I would make will be compatibility. Cogs and chains wear as a pair and if you mix worn components, or worn components with new, then they may not run smoothly. Unfortunately you can only find out what will work with what by trial and error.
