I'm stuck on a decision to buy my first road bike. I'm on a fairly tight budget and I've seen two road bikes that have caught my eye. The first costs £299 and I've read several good reviews that recommend this as a great bike - especially for beginners. The second one is £329 and is more well-known brand and therefore I think it would be more reliable. The first is 1.2kg lighter, and £30 cheaper, but it will cost me more on a care plan (It would cost £29 on the care plan i've seen) whereas the second one would be cheaper (£19).

So in total:
Bike 1: 1.2kg lighter, £30 cheaper but more expensive to cover. £339 in total.
Bike 2: Well-known company, cheaper to cover. £349 in total.

Is it worth paying the extra £10 for a heavier but more reliable bike?
