Thanks again for the reply... I hear what you're saying about alloy vs steel frames, although mine feels quite heavy maybe 'cause it's a bottom end bike? I also have 700x40 tyres so can't go any wider there as it does seem to create some drag as you say. I was actually going to try slightly narrower tyres as it's quite hard work going uphill, but i think these 700c wheels are a pain in the arse uphills anyway! I actually find this size wheel really slow in turning, responding to any input, 26 inch wheels i think are quicker uphill and turning/responding to input but then not much good on the road if you have mountain bike gearing...

Guess i'll just have to persevere, (until i can afford a better bike) cycling always seems to be a round of compromises...

Maybe i am a big girl, need to Man up!
