Hi. I was given a 1980s ladies Universal Riviera Raleigh bike last year which I had professionally tuned up and new tyres fitted. However, I find having only 3 Sturmey Archer gears hard going. The 1st gear is so low it's practically unnecessary and cycling with the remaining two feels like harder work than it should be without enough range. It's otherwise a very comfy bike (and very pretty too!) I would be happy to fork out again to get it modified within reason...but could you advise whether converting it to a 5 gear bike would be feasible and possible to do on a budget?? I am loathe to fork out for another bike given my fondness for this one otherwise....

Many thanks

Lulu
