Hi

I'm looking for some advice about a suitable bike for hills, potential for a pannier once in a while and longish day rides. My dad has insisted on a triple chain set, but impossible to find unless on touring bikes, and ideally I want something more road style and with a few more options not just about 4! It will be a ride to work bike as well, and I don't want anything too bulky as I want to be able to keep up speed. I am newish to bikes, I had a bianchi nirone that was stolen recently, which I loved, but apparently wasn't a good choice for hills? I'm not the fittest person anyway so to be honest I didn't really notice!

Do I really need a triple chainset? Or is there a more modern alternative?

Any help would be great! Thank you!

I've been looking at the BMC Alpen challenge range which look great for hills, but just wondered if there were others out there with dropped handle bars?
