Cotterpin has picked up the major points of difference. I would add that in my experience, the Taiwanese paint finish on the Ridgeback is more durable than the south east Asian paint finish on the Raleigh.
When it comes to suspension forks on hybrids I must admit I am not a great fan. They add weight and complexity and if you go riding where you need a suspension fork then you have got to question whether a hybrid is basically the right bike to be using. In the past I have ridden an unsuspended hybrid in all sorts of unlikely places with great success. You just have to avoid the really rough stuff.
