And I would add that you make sure that the bike is properly built and adjusted by the shop. If the gears do not work properly to start with or the brakes do not give you confidence, then go straight back and insist it is put right. Your supplier is well known in the bike world for not always living up to their advertising promises when it comes to that aspect of supplying bicycles.
