Agree with you admin man but there is a caveat. Fitting slicks on a mountain bike makes it a lot nippier due to the drag reduction but the lower gearing means that once you get going your legs are whizzing round faster than they would be at the same speed on a 700C wheeled bike. I have had a lot of customers who have fitted slicks to their mountain bike and then come to me asking how to increase the gearing because they feel they could go faster but are running out of leg speed.
